    Can I subscribe Add-on numbers by another operator main number?

    A1

    No, from 15th June, 2022 onwards, the Add-on Numbers service is available to SmarTone mobile monthly service plan customers only. SmarTone prepaid SIM customers and non-SmarTone customers cannot subscribe to this service or add new add-on numbers.
    For current users of Add-on numbers (including fixed-line numbers), service will remain unchanged. Please refer to relevant Terms & Conditions.

    What is the next step after registering an existing number as an add-on number at your store?

    You will need to download and install Numbers App on your mobile. The number will be automatically displayed on the Add-on Numbers App once it is ported in successfully.

    How many numbers can I register as add-on numbers?

    You can register up to 4 numbers, including registered mobile number and “Easy Number” Mainland Mobile Number.


General

    Since I started using Add-on Numbers, I noticed a call prefix (such as 1902 and 1903) in front of some of my contacts in the native phonebook, why is there a call prefix?

    Whenever you add a new contact to Add-on Numbers’ phonebook, a copy of that contact will be automatically synchronised to your native phonebook with a call prefix (such as 1902 or 1903). This is designed to help you conveniently identify contacts from different add-on numbers.

    How can I recognise which specific add-on number is the incoming call for?

    Whenever a call comes in, the screen will show you the add-on number and label that the call is intended for so you can recognise it.

    Can Add-on Numbers support call forwarding to another phone number?

    No. Add-on Numbers does not support call forwarding to another phone number.
    When call forwarding to another phone number is being activated for the main number, the mobile numbers under Add-on Numbers will also be forwarded to that number, while fixed-line numbers will be forwarded to voicemail.
    If you do not want to forward the add-on numbers, simply turn on “Send Directly to Voicemail” and incoming calls to your number will be directed to their respective voicemails.

    How can I forward my Add-on numbers to the voicemails?

    Please select the respective number in the app and tap “Settings” on the top right-hand corner, then switch the “Incoming Call Options” to “Send Directly to Voicemail”.

    When I am using the mobile number or fixed-line number under Add-on Numbers to make a call, will the mobile number or fixed-line number’s caller identity be shown on the receiver’s handset?

    Yes. Your mobile number or fixed-line number will be shown as usual.

    Can I hide the caller ID for calls made through Add-on Numbers?

    Yes. Please select the respective add-on number in the app and tap “Settings” on the top right-hand corner, then switch off “Show My Caller ID”.

    If my phone has been turned off, what happens to the incoming calls of the mobile and fixed-line numbers under Add-on Numbers?

    lncoming calls will be directed to the voicemail of that add-on number.

    If there is no data connection, can I make a voice call using Add-on Numbers?

    Yes. You can make a voice call via the mobile numbers under Add-on Numbers even if there is no data connection, while making calls via fixed-line numbers under Add-on Numbers require data connection.

    How can I delete an add-on number in the app?

    Simply follow the following steps and you can delete the add-on number in the app:

    1. Select the respective number in the app

    2. Tap "Settings" on the top right-hand corner

    3. Tap "Delete this Number" at the bottom of the page

    Please note that once an add-on number is deleted, all contacts for that add-on number will also be deleted automatically. Therefore, please back up any related information before deleting the number.

    Can I use the same number (including the ported-in fixed-line number) again after deleting it in the app?

    No, you can’t. If you delete a number in the app, the number can't be used anymore.

    What should I do if I want to delete an add-on number but keep the contacts of that number?

    If you want to keep the contacts of your add-on number that you intend to delete, please select the respective add-on number in the app and tap “Settings” on the top right-hand corner, then tap “Remove Contacts from this Phonebook” and select the contacts you want to keep. While those contacts will be removed from the respective add-on number’s phonebook, they will be kept in the native phonebook. When you delete the add-on number afterwards, those contacts in your native phonebook will not be affected.

    Can I continue to use Add-on Numbers if I terminate the mobile number for my main number?

    Once you terminated the mobile service for your main number, you cannot continue to use the Add-on Numbers app.

    Which smartphone platforms support Add-on Numbers?

    This service can be used on smartphones running iOS 11.0 or above, and Android™ 5.0 or above. This value-added service is not applicable to Android™ smartphones which do not support Google Play services.

    Can I use Add-on Numbers to make emergency calls (for example 999, 112)?

    No, Add-on Numbers cannot be used to make any emergency calls including 999 and 112. Please use your main number or another phone to make emergency calls.

    If I use Dual SIM handset, can I use the service of Add-on Numbers?

    Yes, you can use Add-on Numbers. Simply go to “Settings” on your handset, select “Cellular”, then set your “Default Voice Line” as “SmarTone SIM” (including physical SIM or eSIM), then you can use Add-on Numbers app to dial out. (SmarTone SIM can be placed at SIM slot 1 or slot 2.)


SMS/MMS, Phonebook, Voicemail, WhatsApp

    How can I add a contact from the native phonebook to Add-on Numbers’ phonebook?

    To add a contact from the native phonebook to your Add-on Numbers’ phonebook, please follow the steps below:

    When I change to a new phone, can I continue to use my current add-on numbers?

    A2

    Yes, as long as you’re still using the main number registered to Add-on Numbers. Simply download Add-on Numbers App on your new phone, open the app and follow the instructions to complete the verification process with the same main number. Upon successful verification, Add-on Numbers in the app will be ready for you on your new smartphone.
    If you have transferred your contacts to your new smartphone, all the contacts in Add-on Numbers will be available for use.

    Will SMS/MMS of Add-on Numbers be affected if there is no data connection?

    Yes, they will be affected. Data connection is required for SMS/MMS of Add-on Numbers.
    If you are using mobile number as your Add-on number, you can still dial in and out without data connection.
    If you are using fixed-line number as your Add-on number, you cannot dial in or out without data connection.
    (Please note that MMS only supports on mobile numbers under Add-on Numbers.)

    How can I back up the SMS in Add-on Numbers?

    To back up your SMS in Add-on Numbers, simply select the respective add-on number in the app and tap “Settings” on the top right-hand corner, then tap “Back up SMS”. A back up copy of the SMS will be sent to your designated email.

    Can I use add-on numbers to register for WhatsApp, LINE and WeChat?

    Yes, add-on numbers can be used for the registration of social media apps, including WhatsApp, LINE and WeChat.
    Please be reminded that some apps may only accept a mobile number for registration, depending on the registration requirements of individual app.

    Why I can’t view the MMS visual after upgrading to new AON app?

    All media files will be kept in device, please update the file path to retrieve media from File Manager of device anytime. Follow the steps below to retrieve the files
    (Please note that MMS only supports on mobile numbers under Add-on Numbers.)

    1. Open File Manager on your device
    2. Open Internal Storage, then select AON folder, choose Chatroom, “1” folder
    3. Select the file that you want to restore in AON app, then copy and move to a new folder: Internal storage/Documents/AON/ChatRoom/1/


IDD and Roaming

    Can Add-on Numbers be used to make IDD calls?

    Yes. All users can enjoy significant savings by using 1638 IDD to make IDD calls via Add-on Numbers, simply visit any of our stores to register. Each Add-on Number is required to register 1638 IDD separately if you need to make 1638 IDD call with a particular Add-on Number.
    You can use 001 IDD and 1638 IDD to make IDD calls via Add-on Numbers.

    When I am abroad, can I receive calls through Add-on Numbers?

    Yes. You can receive incoming calls from the mobile numbers under Add-on Numbers via roaming service, and from the fixed-line numbers when you have roaming data or Wi-Fi connection.

    How can I use Add-on Numbers to make outgoing calls to Hong Kong when I am abroad?

    You can make outgoing calls via the mobile numbers under Add-on Numbers to Hong Kong by using the *131* PhoneHome service. Please click here for more details. When using fixed-line numbers, you can dial local number to call back to Hong Kong directly when you have roaming data or Wi-Fi connection.

    Are there any charges for receiving SMS/MMS via Add-on Numbers while I am abroad?

    Receiving SMS/MMS via Add-on Numbers when you are abroad is free of charge. Please just ensure that you have roaming data or Wi-Fi connection. However, sending SMS/MMS will incur messaging charges, please click here for more details.
