SmarTone's LiveCams service offers Hong Kong's first true mobile monitoring system
for people / homes / offices in Hong Kong and around the world

(30 July 2003, Hong Kong) – In answer to customers' overwhelming response since the launch of LiveCams service on and last month, SmarTone today introduces several enhancements, allowing the extension of the original Single Site / Single Cam service with additional site(s) and/or camera(s) as well as enabling a Motion Detection function in all Single Cam environments. The spectrum of service combinations of SmarTone's LiveCams service makes it Hong Kong's FIRST true mobile monitoring system.

Mr. Douglas Li, Chief Executive Officer of SmarTone said, "To exemplify our 'Get Closer' customer proposition, LiveCams service enables you to keep an eye on what is important to you while you are away from your home / kids / parents / office / shop / factory / pets which are located in Hong Kong or abroad."

SmarTone's LiveCams service is a true mobile monitoring system across boundaries. Customers can easily set up Internet camera at up to three sites (located locally and/or overseas) to view snapshots of what is important to them via their mobile phones, while the service is charged at local tariff only.

Addressing customers' wide variety of needs, each site can support up to four cameras, two of which can be wireless cameras. The snapshots from different cameras will be shown in cyclic mode. Out of the multiple cameras, customers can assign one as the principal camera, from which the snapshots can be reloaded by customers anytime they like or in auto mode (refreshed at fixed interval), in order to 'get closer' to what is most important to them.

The other compelling feature newly added to LiveCams service is Motion Detection, which is applicable to both service options: Single Site / Single Cam and Multi Sites / Single Cam. Should there be any on-site motion detected by the Internet camera, an MMS alert will be pushed automatically to the customer's mobile phone.

With Sharp GX12, a member of the "Best Wireless Handset" GX series of 2003 GSM Association Award, customers can go to >> channel >> LiveCams to enjoy the easy-to-operate service with options of Single Site / Single Cam and Single Site / Multi Cams. Alternatively, all the new empowerments of the LiveCams service are available on for customers with Sony Ericsson P800, Nokia 7650 or Nokia 3650 handset.
