(15 April 2003, Hong Kong) – SmarTone Mobile
Communications Limited today announced the donation of 10 per cent
of its revenue to be generated from SMS and MMS
(including and )
sent out in the coming one-month period to the Charity Fund of Hospital
Authority. This charitable act serves as a token
of SmarTone’s contribution to as well as its support and tribute to all front-line
medical practitioners and volunteers in the fight against atypical pneumonia.
Mr. Douglas Li, Chief Executive Officer of SmarTone
said, “We hope to get people closer by having our customers send out caring SMS
and MMS to their friends and relatives.”
SmarTone has prepared some canned consolatory messages and words of
encouragement for customers to forward to their beloved ones, showing concern
and instilling positive thinking among the recipients amid this challenging
time. SmarTone and its customers join hands to fight against atypical
pneumonia, as the more SMS and MMS to be sent out by SmarTone’s customers, the
more donations to be made by SmarTone.
SmarTone will continue to help
customers ‘get closer’ to the latest news on atypical pneumonia and related
health tips via the ‘What’s New’ channel of our multimedia portal .
